History

In 1959, James B. Moore had a vision that most companies would never buy their own computer system. The fact that computer systems were expensive and difficult to understand and operate would almost insure that vision. Computer systems in those days were acquired only by the largest companies, institutions and government entities and required a sizable investment. Computer service bureaus became the only practical answer for most organizations to accomplish their information processing requirements.

With this vision in mind, James Moore and his partners embarked on one of the riskiest ventures of their times - purchasing a computer system. They set out to serve the needs of a rapidly growing market of statistical service users. STATCO constantly grew and improved to meet the ever- demanding challenges of the computer industry. As customer profiles changed, so did the service offerings of the company. For 28 years, this vision continued through two generations of the Moore family and three generations of computers.
